Seating and safety restraints Tighten the anchor according to manufacturer's specifications. Otherwise, the safety seat may not be properly secured and the child may be injured in a sudden stop or collision. To install a tethered forwardĆfacing child safety seat in the rear seat, remove the cargo area cover and hook the top tether strap to the anchor in the trunk (please refer to Tether anchor hardware). For infants under one year, install a rearĆfacing child safety seat snugly in the rear seat using the lapĆshoulder belt. If a tether is fitted to the rearĆfacing convertible child safety seat, attach the top tether strap hook to the rear end of the round metal bar to which the front seat belt is sewn (along the side of the vehicle). Tighten the tether strap until the child safety seat reclines at the angle recommended in its instruction. When possible, Ford Motor Company recommends that children be restrained in the rear seats. If it is necessary to place a forwardĆfacing child seat in the front seat, move the passenger seat all the way rearward. 118

and safety restraints

T
ighten the anchor
according to
manufacturer's
specifications.
Otherwise, the
safety seat may not be properly
secured and the child may be
injured in a sudden stop or
collision.
To install a tethered forwardĆfacing
child safety seat in the rear seat,
remove the cargo area cover and
hook the top tether strap to the
anchor in the trunk (please refer to
Tether anchor hardware
).
For infants under one year, install a
rearĆfacing child safety seat snugly
in the rear seat using the
lapĆshoulder belt. If a tether is
fitted to the rearĆfacing convertible
child safety seat, attach the top
tether strap hook to the rear end of
the round metal bar to which the
front seat belt is sewn (along the
side of the vehicle). Tighten the
tether strap until the child safety
seat reclines at the angle
recommended in its instruction.
When possible, Ford Motor
Company recommends that
children be restrained in the rear
seats. If it is necessary to place a
forwardĆfacing child seat in the
front seat, move the passenger seat
all the way rearward.
