Seating and safety restraints Install the forwardĆfacing child safety seat snugly in the front passenger seat using the lap/shoulder belt by first buckling the front belt and then putting it into automatic locking mode (pull all of the stored belt out of the retractor to initiate automatic lockingĆ mode, then let the retractor wind up the slack). Then tether the child seat to the rear lap/shoulder belt in the seat directly behind the front passenger seat by first buckling the rear belt and then putting it into automatic lockingĆmode (pull all of the stored belt out the retractor to initiate automatic lockingĆmode, then let the retractor wind up the slack). Route the tether strap under the front seat head restraint (or over if the head restraint is fixed) and hook the tether strap around the webbing near the center of the shoulder portion of the lap/shoulder belt. Tighten the tether strap. Tether anchor hardware Tether anchor hardware kits (part number 613D74), including instructions, may be obtained at no charge from any Ford or LincolnĆMercury dealer. All vehicles built for sale in Canada include a tether anchor kit in the glove compartment. 119
