Remember: Anti-lock doesn't change time you need the to get your foot up tothe brake pedal or always decrease stopping distance. If you too closeto the vehicle in get front of you, you won't have time to apply your brakes if that vehicle suddenly slows or stops. Always leave enough room up ahead stop, even though you have to anti-lock brakes. TRACTION ACTIVE on This light will come when your traction control system is limiting wheel spin. See "Traction Control System Active Light" in the Index. Using Anti-Lock Don't pumpthe brakes. Just hold brake pedal down the firmly andlet anti-lock workfor you. You may feel a slight brake pedal pulsation or notice some noise, but this is normal. You may feel or hear the system working, but this is normal. Traction Control System(If Equipped) Your vehicle may have a traction control system that in limits wheel spin.This is especially useful slippery if road conditions.The system operates only it senses that one or both ofthe fiont wheels are spinning or beginning to lose traction. When this happens, the system worksthe front brakes and reduces engine power to limit wheel spin. If your vehicleis in cruise control when the traction control system begins to limit wheel spin, the cruise control will automatically disengage. When road conditions allow you to safely useagain, you may it reengage the cruise control. (See "Cruise Control" in the Index.) This light should come on briefly when you start the engine.If it stays on or comes on while you are driving, there's a problem with your traction control system. TRACTION OFF 4-9
