Compiling the Driver (For experts only) If you wish to build the driver yourself (for a different kernel version that you are running), then perform the following steps. 1 Copy the 3ware driver source file archive (twe.tgz) to an accessible location. 2 Unpack the 3ware driver source files. 3 Back up the original source files under /sys/dev/twe and /sys/modules/twe 4 Copy the Makefile to /sys/modules/twe 5 Change the directory to /sys/modules/twe 6 Build the driver make clean make 7 Back up /modules/twe.ko 8 Copy the driver to the /modules directory. cp twe.ko /modules/twe.ko 9 Unload the existing driver, if any kldunload twe.ko 10 Load the new driver. kldload twe.ko www.3ware.com 77

/sys/modules/twe

Build the driver
make clean
make

Back up /modules/twe.ko

Copy the driver to the /modules directory.
cp twe.ko /modules/twe.ko

Unload the existing driver, if any
kldunload twe.ko

Load the new driver.
kldload twe.ko
