This booklet describes: I How to view the documentation on CD-ROM I Installing and configuring your hardware I Installing Adaptec software I How to access Storage Manager on ROM (SMOR) I Contacting Adaptec Technical Support Using the Adaptec CD The Adaptec SCSI RAID CD is a bootable media. You can use this CD to configure disk arrays in a host system that does not yet have an operating system installed. The CD-ROM drive must be attached to a controller and host system that recognizes bootable CDs. Some systems might require you to change the system BIOS configuration so that the CD-ROM drive is used as a boot device. When the CD is used as a boot source, an operating system is loaded and then the Adaptec SCSI RAID installation utility starts. You will be able to read the product documentation, install I2O drivers, run Storage Manager, and create disks to use for driver installation when the operating system being installed cannot use the CD-ROM as a source for the files. 3
