UNLOADING THE PISTOL AND THE FIRING CHAMBER It is a good practice to store the pistol unloaded, with empty magazine, with empty chamber safety engaged (FS Models) and with decocked hammer. ! WARNING: Always unload the pistol whenever you do not intend to shoot. ! WARNING: Be certain the pistol is pointed in a SAFE direction. Keep your finger away from the trigger. Before unloading the pistol: ! ! ! 30 • Check that the manual safety/hammer decocking lever is engaged (FS models) (Red Warning Dot Covered) (Fig. 6a / 6b). The hammer will automatically lower in complete safety (if cocked). The safety will remain engaged. G models: decock the hammer (if cocked) by rotating the decocking lever downward. The lever will return to the ready to fire position. (Fig. 5). • Depress the magazine release button to remove the magazine from the pistol. • Grasping the slide serrations with thumb and index finger, fully retract the slide to remove the chambered cartridge. WARNING: Always visually inspect the firing chamber to ensure that it is empty. The chamber is empty when no cartridge is visible when looking into the open chamber (Fig. 11). WARNING: If you are ejecting unfired cartridges, use extreme care to be sure they are ejected onto an appropriate surface. Never attempt to catch cartridges or fired cartridge cases as they fall. WARNING: Never allow anything to come in contact with the primer of unfired ammunition. Doing so could cause the

WARNING:
Always unload the pistol whenever you do not intend

WARNING:

Before unloading the pistol:
• Check that the manual safety/hammer decocking lever is
engaged (
FS models

G models:
decock the hammer (if cocked) by rotating the

WARNING:
Always visually inspect the firing chamber to ensure
that it is empty. The chamber is empty when no cartridge is
