o IMPORTANT • Observe the following precautions while the firmware is being transferred to the camcorder. - Do not disconnect the USB cable and do not push the DVD Burner's disc tray closed. - Do not turn off the camcorder or the DVD Burner. - Do not disconnect the compact power adapter from the camcorder. • Never insert the HG10 System Update Disc CD-ROM to any device other than the Canon DW-100 DVD Burner. Canon shall not be liable for any damage or malfunction caused by the' use of the supplied CD-ROM with any other device. CD NOTES No other operations can be performed on the camcorder while the firmware is being transferred. • After the firmware update, the camcorder is reset to initial settings. In order to use it, you will need to readjust the camcorder's internal clock and change the language as necessary. o IMPORTANT • Do not touch or operate any of the camcorder's controls (buttons, switches, dials, etc.) during the firmware update. • If the camcorder's firmware is not updated correctly contact a Canon Service Center. I CD NOTES • After the firmware update, the camcorder is reset to initial settings. • You can verify that the firmware was updated correctly by opening the [SYSTEM SETUP] menu as described in steps 1-3. Check that the firmware's version changed to 1.0.1.0. Updating the HG1 D's Firmware In this step you will update the camcorder's firmware to the new version you transferred in the previous section. 1 Move the I~ /0 switch to 0 (Still images). 2 Press [FUNC.] then press. or ~ to select [l1l:al MENU] and press @. 3 Press • or ~ to select [SYSTEM SETUP] and press @. 4 Press. or ~ to select [FIRMWARE 1.0.0.0] and press @. The last digit in the firmware version may be a number other than O. 5 Press ~ to select [OK] and press @. • The CARD access indicator will flash as the camcorder updates the firmware. • Do not turn the camcorder off or disconnect the compact power adapter while the firmware's update is in progress. Doing so will result in a malfunction of the camcorder. 6 Check that the firmware update was completed correctly. • After about 3 minutes, the CARD access indicator will go off and the camcorder will restart automatically in still image playback mode. • If [FIRMWARE 1.a.a.x] appears grayed out in step 4 or the firmware upgrade option does not appear in step 5, the new firmware may not have been transferred correctly to the camcorder (CD 3). In such case, do the following. - Turn off the camcorder and the DVD Burner and disconnect the USB cable. - Disconnect the DVD Burner's power adapter. After a short while, reconnect the power adapter and turn on the DVD Burner. - Transfer the new firmware again, starting the procedure from the beginning (CD 2). 3
