Disc Handling Precautions • Do not bend, scratch or wet the disc and do not subject it to strong shocks. • Do not attach any labels or stickers on the disc surfaces. The disc may not rotate in a stable manner and this may cause malfunctions. • Keep the disc clean of d,ust, dirt or smudges. Even very small smudges or particles of dust can lead to problems when recording or playing back the disc. Carefully inspect the recording surface of the disc before using it. If the disc gets dirty use a dry, soft lens-cleaning cloth to remove any fingerprints, dirt bUildup or smudges from the disc surface. Clean the disc in a radial motion from its center outwards. • Never use a chemically treated cloth or flammable solvents such as paint thinner to clean the disc. • To protect the disc, return it to its case for storage. • When writing on the label side of the disc, avoid hard tip pens. Use waterproof soft-tipped felt pens instead. • Moving a disc rapidly between hot and cold temperatures may cause condensation to form on its surfaces. If condensation forms on the disc, put it aside until the water droplets have evaporated completely. • Never expose the disc to direct sunlight and do not store it in places subject to high temperatures or high humidity. Error Messages (in alphabetical order) If an error message appears while the camcorder is connected to the DVD Burner, refer to the following section and also to the instruction manual of the DW-100. CANNOT READ THE DISC CHECK THE DISC • During disc recording mode, this message can appear when a commercially available DVD disc (a DVD disc containing movies, software, etc.) or an 8 cm mini DVD disc is inserted. - During disc playback mode, this message can appear when a commercially available DVD disc or a brand new DVD disc is inserted. CONNECT THE COMPACT POWER ADAPTER - The camcorder is being powered only by the battery pack. Connect the compact power adapter to the camcorder. DISC ACCESS FAILURE CHECK THE DISC - There was an error when reading the disc or attempting to write onto it. - The disc may not be loaded correctly. Try removing the disc and reinserting it. ERROR READING THE DATA - Error while reading the recordings from the camcorder. - Check that the USB cable was not accidentally disconnected. LOADING THE DISC - Reading data from the disc. NO DISC - Insert a disc into the DVD Burner. - This message can appear also if condensation has formed. Wait until the DVD burner dries completely before resuming use. NO SCENES - There are no movies to add to the disc. NO SCENES LEFT TO ADD - You selected to create a DVD with the [REM.SCENES] settings, but all the scenes have already been added to discs created in the past; there are no applicable scenes. OPERATION CANCELED - The USB cable was disconnected and the operation was canceled. Check the USB connection. UNABLE TO RECOVER DATA - Could not recover a corrupted file. 6
