Part 3: Technical Reference d) Heater voltage One of four heater voltage levels that determine the ink jet speed is selected to correct any manufacturing variations in the bubble jet head units. The heater voltage ID is indicated by the PCB pattern of the contact points of the bubble jet head unit, and is used to switch the heater voltage output of the printer heater drive voltage supply circuit. 0 ° dr Heater Drive Volta e ID Circuit 0 11 ID Circuit Pattern Heater Drive Voltage (VH) 20.4 V DC 21.2 V DC 22.0 V DC 22.8 V DC Figure 3-17 Heater Drive Voltage ID e) Temperature control The optimum temperature of the BJ cartridge ink for high quality printing is about 73.4°F (23°C). The bubble jet head unit has temperature sensors and warm-up heaters on the silicon plate. The printer determines the BJ cartridge temperature from the ambient temperature detected by the temperature sensor on the printer logic card. When it detects lower than 68°F (20°C), the bubble jet head unit nozzles are warmed by the warm-up heaters. /1 Nozzle Section 0000 0 ,Warm-up Heaters / I I 1 11 I Temperature Sensors Figure 3-18 Head; emperature Controller 3-17
