Receiving faxes to your machine Before receiving faxes to your machine Before receiving faxes, check the following: Is the power turned on? You cannot receive faxes if the power is turned off. Is the correct paper loaded in the multi-purpose tray? Load plain paper in the multi-purpose tray. For details, see the Set-Up sheet or User's Guide. Have you set the paper size setting? Before receiving faxes, you must set the paper size setting for the paper loaded in the multi-purpose tray. For details, see p. 2-4. Have you set the receive mode? Before using your machine to receive faxes, you need to set the receive mode according to how you plan to use your machine. Follow this procedure to set the receive mode: 1 Press [Fax]. 2 Press [Menu]. 3 Press [Set]. 7 Faxing with your machine -Basic operation RECEIVE MODE FAX/TEL AUTO SW 4 Use [2] or [3] to select the receive mode: • Select: - to automatically switch between fax and voice calls. Faxes will be received automatically, and the machine will ring for voice calls. - to automatically receive faxes only. Voice calls will be disconnected. - if you have subscribed to a DRP (Distinctive Ring Pattern) service offered by some companies. - for the machine to ring for fax and voice calls.
