Erasing 89 Formatting CF Cards New CF cards must be formatted with the following procedures before use. • Please note that formatting (initializing) a CF card erases all data, including protected images and other file types. In the (Play) menu, select . • See Selecting Menus and Settings (p. 37). • Use the or button to select [OK]. • To exit instead of formatting, select [Cancel]. • When the camera is malfunctioning, a corrupted CF card might be the cause. Reformatting the CF card may solve the problem. • When a non-Canon brand CF card is malfunctioning, reformatting it may solve the problem. • CF cards formatted in other cameras, computers, or peripheral devices may not operate correctly in this camera. When that happens, reformat the CF card with this camera. If formatting in the camera doesn't work properly, turn the camera off and re-insert the CF card. Then turn the camera back on and format again.
