REPLACING BATTERY _WARNING: Do not short batteryterminals by allowing a wrench or any other object to contact both terminals at the same time. Before connecting battery, remove metal bracelets, wristwatch bands, rings, etc. Positive termina! must be connected first to prevent sparking from accidental grounding. 1. Lift hood to raised position. 2. Disconnect BLACKbatterycable (A) then RED battery cable and carefully remove battery from tractor. 3. Install new battery with terminals in same position as old battery. 4. First connect RED battery cable (B) to positive (+) batteryterminal with hex bolt and keps nut as shown. Tighten securely. Slide termina! cover (C) over terminal. 5. Connect BLACKgrounding cableto neg- ative (-) battery terminal with remaining hex bolt and keps nut. Tighten securely. 6. Close hood. Negative (Black) Cable TO REPLACE HEADLIGHT BULB 1. Raise hood. 2. Remove bulb holder from the hole in the backside of the grill. 3. Replace bulb in holder and install bulb holder securely back into the hole in the backside of the grill. 4. Close hood. TO REMOVE HOOD & GRILLASSEMBLY 1. Raise hood. 2. Unsnap headlight wire connector. 3. Stand in front of tractor. Grasp hood at sides, tilt toward engine and lift off of tractor. 4. When replacing hood, be sure to reconnect the headlight wire connector. Hood Headlight Wire Connector Positive (Red) Cable FRONT WHEEL TOE-IN/CAMBER Your new tractor front wheel toe-in and cam- ber is set at the factory and is normal. The front wheel toe-in and camber are not adjustable. if damage has occurred to affect the factory set front wheel toe-in or camber, contact a Sears or other qualified service center. iNTERLOCKS AND RELAYS Loose or damaged wiring may cause your tractor to run poorly, stop running, or prevent it from starting. • Check wiring. TO REPLACE FUSE Replace with 30 amp automotive-type in fuse. The fuse holder is located the dash. plugbehind ENGINE Maintenance, repair, or replacement of the emission control devices and systems, which are being done at the customers expense, may be performed by any non-road engine repair establishment or individual. Warranty repairs must be performed by an authorized engine manufacturer's service outlet. CARBURETOR If your engine does not operate properly due to suspected carburetor problems, take your tractor to a Sears or other qualified service center for repair and/or adjustment. High speed stop is factory adjusted. Do not adjust - damage may result. IMPORTANT: Never tamper with the engine governor, which is factory set for proper engine speed. Overspeeding the engine above the factory high speed setting can be dangerous. If you thinkthe engine-governed high speed needs adjusting, contact a Sears or other qualified service center,, which has proper equipment and experience to make any necessary adjustments. 29

REPLACING
BATTERY
_WARNING:

holder

of the

3.
Replace
bulb
in
holder
and
install
bulb
holder
securely
back
into the hole
in the
backside
of the
grill.

Close
hood.
TO
REMOVE

1.
Raise
hood.
2.
Unsnap
headlight
wire
connector.
3.
Stand
in front
of tractor.
Grasp
hood
at
sides,
tilt
toward
engine
and
lift

of
tractor.
4.

replacing

to
