EVRDs are embedded on the planar. Processor core voltage is not shared between processors. EVRDs support static phase shedding and power management via the PMBus. 6.5 Processor Installation Refer to the Processors section in the Installing System Components chapter of the Dell PowerEdge R610 Systems Hardware Owner's Manual on Support.dell.com for processor installation and removal instructions. 6.4.1
Single Processor Configuration
The PowerEdge R610 is designed so that a single processor placed in the CPU1 socket functions
normally. The system will halt during power-on self-test (POST) if a single processor is placed in the
CPU2 socket. If using a single processor, the R610 requires a heatsink blank in the CPU2 socket for
thermal reasons.
6.4.2
Processor Power Voltage Regulation Modules (EVRD 11.1)
Voltage regulation to the Intel Xeon processor 5500 and 5600 series 2S is provided by EVRD
(Enterprise Voltage Regulator-Down). EVRDs are embedded on the planar. Processor core voltage is
not shared between processors. EVRDs support static phase shedding and power management via the
