Like http, which transfers HTML pages and related files, FTP is a protocol that uses the Internet's TCP/IP protocols. G Gravities. A measurement of weight and force. g Gram. A measurement of mass and weight. GB Gigabyte. A measurement of data or drive storage capacity that equals 1024 MB (1,073,741,824 bytes). GHz Gigahertz. A measurement of frequency that equals one thousand million Hz, or one thousand MHz. GUI Graphical user interface. Software that interacts with the user by means of menus, windows, and icons. Most applications that operate on the Microsoft Windows OS are GUIs. H Hard-Drive Controller A computer component that provides an interface with an individual hard drive. With the introduction of IDE, the controller was produced as a chip integrated into the hard-drive housing, whereas it was previously a dedicated expansion card. See also Controller.
