154 Internet connections Using myTouch 4G Slide as a modem (USB tethering) No Internet connection available for your computer? No problem. Use the Internet connection of myTouch 4G Slide to connect to the Internet. § You need your SIM card inserted on myTouch 4G Slide to use the data connection. § To use myTouch 4G Slide as a modem, you need to install HTCDriver on your computer first. You can find HTCDriver on the microSD card that came with myTouch 4G Slide. You can also download the latest version of HTCDriver from htc.com/us/support. 1. Make sure the data connection on myTouch 4G Slide is turned on. 2. Connect myTouch 4G Slide to the computer using the provided USB cable. 3. Slide down the Notifications panel, and then tap the current USB connection type (Charge only or Disk drive). 4. On the Connect to PC screen, tap USB tethering, and then tap Done. Connecting myTouch 4G Slide to the Internet through a computer (Internet Pass-through) If you temporarily don't have Internet access, you can still go online on myTouch 4G Slide by using your computer's Internet connection. Before you connect myTouch 4G Slide and use your computer's Internet connection, you need to install HTCDriver on your computer first. You can find HTCDriver on the microSD card that came with myTouch 4G Slide. You can also download the latest version of HTCDriver from htc.com/us/support. 1. Make sure your computer is connected to the Internet. Two things to check for your computer's Internet connection. One, you may need to turn off your local network's firewall. Two, if your computer connects to the Internet via PPP (e.g. Dial UP, xDSL, or VPN), Internet Pass-through will only support TCP protocol. 2. Connect myTouch 4G Slide to the computer using the provided USB cable. 3. From the Home screen, press and then tap Settings > Wireless & networks. 4. Scroll down the screen, and then select Internet Pass-through.
