Memory module Description Memory module (PC3L, 12800, 1600-MHz) For use in models with 5th generation Intel Core processors, Intel Pentium processors, and Intel Celeron processors 8-GB 4-GB 2-GB Memory module (PC4, 17000, 2133-MHz) For use in models with 6th generation Intel Core processors 8-GB 4-GB 2-GB Spare part number 693374-005 691740-005 691739-005 820570-005 820569-005 851379-005 Before removing a memory module, follow these steps: 1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer. 3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer. 4. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 34). 5. Remove the optical drive (see Optical drive on page 35). 6. Remove the bottom cover (see Bottom cover on page 41). To remove a memory module: 1. Spread the retaining tabs (1) on each side of the memory module slot to release the memory module. (The memory module tilts up.) Component replacement procedures 49
