Basic operation All high-level processes are routed through the formatter, which stores font information, processes the print image, and communicates with the host computer. Basic product operation can be divided into the following systems: ● The engine-control system, which includes the power supply and the DC controller printed circuit assembly (PCA ) ● The laser/scanner system, which forms the latent image on the photosensitive drum ● The image-formation system, which transfers a toner image onto the paper ● The paper pickup and feed system, which uses a system of rollers and belts to transport the paper through the product Figure 5-1 Relationship between the main product systems LASER/SCANNER SYSTEM ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM IMAGE-FORMATION SYSTEM PICKUP-AND-FEED SYSTEM OPTION Sequence of operation The DC controller PCA controls the operating sequence, as described in the following table.
