Removal and replacement procedures Secondary hard drive cover Description Hard Drive Cover Kit (contains primary and secondary hard drive covers) Spare part number 518164-001 Before removing the secondary hard drive cover, follow these steps: 1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer. 3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer. 4. Remove the battery (see "Battery" on page 4-6). 5. Remove the primary hard drive cover (see "Primary hard drive cover" on page 4-9). Remove the secondary hard drive cover: 1. Loosen the three Phillips PM2.5×6.0 captive screws 1 that secure the secondary hard drive cover to the computer. 2. Lift the rear edge 2, and then remove the cover 3. Removal and replacement procedures
Secondary hard drive cover
Before removing the secondary hard drive cover, follow these steps:
1.
Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on,
and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then
unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
4. Remove the battery (see
“Battery” on page 4-6
).
5. Remove the primary hard drive cover (see
“Primary hard drive cover” on page 4-9
).
Remove the secondary hard drive cover:
1. Loosen the three Phillips PM2.5×6.0 captive screws

that secure the secondary hard drive cover to the
computer.
2. Lift the rear edge

Reverse this procedure to install the secondary hard drive cover.
