Reverse this procedure to install the speakers. Memory modules Description 4-GB memory module (PC3L, 12800, 1600-MHz) 8-GB memory module (PC3L, 12800, 1600-MHz) Spare part number 691740-005 693374-005 Before removing a memory module, follow these steps: 1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer. 3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer. 4. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 37), 5. Remove the optical drive (see Optical drive on page 38). 6. Remove the top cover from the base enclosure (see Base enclosure on page 41). 7. Remove the WLAN module (see WLAN module on page 55). 8. Remove the subwoofer (see Subwoofer on page 60). 9. Remove the system board (see System board on page 63). Remove the memory module: 1. Turn the system board over. 2. Spread the retaining tabs (1) on each side of the memory module slot to release the memory module. (The memory module tilts up.) CAUTION: To prevent damage to the memory module, hold it by the edges only. Do not touch the components on the memory module. 3. Slide the memory module forward (2) to remove it. Before removing a memory module, follow these steps:
1.
Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn
the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2.
Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3.
Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and
then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
4.
Remove the battery (see

Remove the optical drive (see

).
6.
Remove the top cover from the base enclosure (see

).
7.
Remove the WLAN module (see

).
8.
Remove the subwoofer (see

).
9.
Remove the system board (see

on page

).
Remove the memory module:
1.
Turn the system board over.
2.
Spread the retaining tabs
(1)
on each side of the memory module slot to release the memory module.
(The memory module tilts up.)
CAUTION:
To prevent damage to the memory module, hold it by the edges only. Do not touch the
components on the memory module.
3.
Slide the memory module forward
(2)
to remove it.
Reverse this procedure to install a memory module.
