Troubleshooting and Maintenance Troubleshooting Your Computer If the serial or parallel port is not working • Make sure the port connection is secure. • Check the port settings in Control Panel. Open the hardware Device Manager, and then double-click Ports (COM & LPT). • Test the ports with the e-Diagtools diagnostics-see "Testing the Hardware" on page 116. Then press the power button to turn it on. • If the computer still doesn't respond, remove the battery and AC adapter, remove any PC cards, and undock the computer if docked. If the serial or parallel port is not working
Make sure the port connection is secure.

If the USB port is not working
Contact the vendor of the peripheral device— and the Compaq Consumer Support
