Replacing the System Board Replacing the System Board NOTE HP does not support system board upgrades. This information is provided to help you replace a defective unit with a system board provided by HP support services. 1 Remove the computer's cover (described in this chapter). 2 Remove the tray containing the floppy disk and hard disk drives to allow easy access to the system board (see "Replacing the Hard Disk Drive" and "Replacing the Floppy Drive" ). 3 Remove the main memory, processor and any accessory boards from the old system board (described in this chapter). You will also need to disconnect any cables attached to the board. 4 Remove the six screws that hold the board in place and lift the board out, being careful not to damage the PC's rear connectors.

Remove the computer’s cover (described in this chapter).

Remove the tray containing the floppy disk and hard disk drives to
allow easy access to the system board (see “Replacing the Hard Disk
Drive”
and “Replacing the Floppy Drive” ).

Remove the main memory, processor and any accessory boards from
the old system board (described in this chapter). You will also need
to disconnect any cables attached to the board.

Remove the six screws that hold the board in place and lift the board
out, being careful not to damage the PC’s rear connectors.
