WARNING NOTE Setting Up and Using Your Workstation Setting Up Your x2000 Workstation Connecting Multimedia Accessories (if supplied) When you start your system, the speaker and headphone volume is set to maximum. Always turn the volume down before using the headphones or speakers. This avoids discomfort from unexpected noise or static. Listening to loud sounds for prolonged periods of time may permanently damage your hearing. Before putting on headphones, place them around your neck and turn the volume down. When you put the headphones on, slowly increase the volume until you find a comfortable listening level. When you are able to hear comfortably and clearly, without distortion, leave the volume in that position. 1. Connect the HP multimedia keyboard to the Workstation. The connectors are color-coded for easy matching. See the section entitled "Using Your HP Enhanced Multimedia Keyboard" later in this chapter, for more information. 2. Connect the microphone and headphones (or amplified speakers) to the keyboard. Plugging in the speaker/headphone (lime green) connector will disable the Workstation's internal speaker. If you want audio capability, either plug-in the headphones or speakers or disconnect the speaker/headphone connector (lime green) and use the Workstation's internal speaker. 18 Chapter 1
