Table 2-2 Left-side components and their descriptions Component (1) Security cable slot (2) - or - USB SuperSpeed powered port - or - USB powered port (3) Vent (4) Memory card reader (5) Drive light Description Attaches an optional security cable to the computer. NOTE: The security cable is designed to act as a deterrent, but it may not prevent the computer from being mishandled or stolen. Connects and supplies power to a USB device, such as a cell phone, camera, activity tracker, optical drive, or smartwatch, and provides high-speed data transfer. - or - Connects and supplies power to a USB device, such as a cell phone, camera, activity tracker, optical drive, or smartwatch, and provides data transfer. Enables airflow to cool internal components. NOTE: The computer fan starts up automatically to cool internal components and prevent overheating. It is normal for the internal fan to cycle on and off during routine operation. Reads optional memory cards that store, manage, share, or access information. To insert a card: 1. Hold the card label-side up, with the connectors facing the computer. 2. Insert the card into the memory card reader, and then press in on the card until it is firmly seated. To remove a card: ▲ Press in on the card, and then remove it from the memory card reader. ● Blinking white: The hard drive is being accessed. ● Amber: HP 3D DriveGuard has temporarily parked the hard drive.
