Conditions in which PC connection software can be used: • Windows 98 preinstalled PC • IBM PC/AT compatible PC • Equipped with USB port in standard • CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive provided Transferring Data to PC The following hardware requirements are recommended for smooth use: • Pentium II, Pentium III, Celeron with clock frequency 400 MHz or higher • Memory of at least 64 MB • Free space on hard disc: at least 100 MB The following are stored in the PC connection software CD-ROM: • USB device driver for DVD comcorder • UDF Reader Cautions: • No power is supplied to this DVD camcorder via PC connection cable: Use the AC adapter/charger to power the DVD camcorder. • The PC connection cable provided is exclusively for this DVD camcorder. A generally available USB cable cannot be used. • Unplug all cables other than the power cable and USB cable when connecting camcorder to PC. • Do not unplug the PC connection cable when the ACCESS indicator is lit or blinking: Disconnecting it could damage the data on disc. • And, thoroughly read the instruction manual of PC connection software. • Connect the DVD camcorder to PC at comfortable room temperature: If movies are transferred at ambient temperature of 95˚F (35˚C) or more for an extended time, reading errors could result. • Hitachi does not guarantee operation in the following cases: - When using USB port added by installing USB extended board - When USB hub is used - When cables other than the cable supplied are used - When PC equipped with DVD-RAM drive is used (in USB connection) • If you use PC equipped with DVD-RAM drive, change the UDF file system to the UDF device driver contained in the PC connection software. 147
