Motherboard Description 1.11.1 Power Supply Connector When used with a power supply that supports remote power on/off, the motherboard can turn off the computer's power through software control. Pin 14 of the power supply connector lets the motherboard recognize a power supply that supports this "soft-off" feature; the power supply must tie pin 14 to ground. When the BIOS receives the correct APM command from the operating system, the BIOS turns off power to the computer. For example, in the Windows 95 Start menu, the user selects Shutdown to turn off the power. If power to the computer is interrupted by a power outage or a disconnected power cord, when power resumes, the computer remains in the off state until the power on switch is pressed. Table 15.
