Table 14 shows the format of these IDE submenus. For brevity, only one example is shown. Table 14. Primary/Secondary IDE Master/Slave Submenus Feature Drive Installed Type Maximum Capacity LBA Mode (This feature appears only if an IDE device is installed) Options None • Auto (default) • User None • Auto (default) • Disabled Description Displays the type of drive installed. Specifies the IDE configuration mode for IDE devices. Auto fills-in capabilities from ATA/ATAPI device. User allows capabilities to be changed. Displays the capacity of the drive. Specifies LBA mode control. Block Mode • 2 Sectors • 4 Sectors • 8 Sectors • 16 Sectors • Auto (default) • Disabled When the Type feature is set to Auto, specifies number of sectors per block for transfers from the hard disk drive to memory Check the hard disk drive's specifications for optimum setting. When the Type feature is set to User, these options are displayed. Disabled: the Data transfer from and to the device occurs one sector at a time. Auto: the Data gransfer from and to the device occurs multiple sectors at a time if the device supports it. continued 46
