Before removing or replacing any memory DIMM, you must first take the server out of service, turn off all peripheral devices connected to the system, turn off the system by pressing the power button, and unplug the AC power cord from the system or wall outlet. The silkscreen on the board for the DIMMs displays DIMM A1, DIMM A2, DIMM B1, and DIMM B2 starting from the center of the board. See "Memory" on page 17 for a discussion of the memory requirements and options. See "Server System References" on page x for a link to the list of tested DIMMs. Installing DIMMs To install DIMMs, follow these steps: 1. Observe the safety and ESD precautions at the beginning of this book. See "Safety Information" on page iii. 2. Power down the server and unplug all peripheral devices and the AC power cable. 3. Installing and Removing Memory
Caution:
The memory is NOT hot swappable. Before removing or replacing any memory DIMM,
you must first take the server out of service, turn off all peripheral devices connected to
the system, turn off the system by pressing the power button, and unplug the AC power
cord from the system or wall outlet.
The silkscreen on the board for the DIMMs displays DIMM A1, DIMM A2, DIMM B1,
and DIMM B2 starting from the center of the board. See

Installing DIMMs
