DETERGENT USE Designed to use only HE (High-Efficiency) detergent IMPORTANT: Your washing machine is designed for use with only High-Efficiency (HE) detergents. HE detergents are formulated specifically for front-load washers and contain suds-reducing agents. Always look for the HE symbol when purchasing detergent. A WordAbout Detergents HE detergents produce fewer suds, dissolve more efficiently to improve washing and rinsing performance, and help to keep the interior of your washer clean. Using non-HE detergent may cause oversudsing and unsatisfactory performance which could result in error codes, cycle failure, and machine damage. IMPORTANT: Not all detergents are the same. Careful attention must be paid to the amount of detergent used to avoid oversudsing, poor rinsing and detergent buildup in clothing, and residue buildup that can contribute to odors in the machine. NEVER use a measure other than that supplied by the detergent manufacturer of the detergent you are using. NEVER use more than the maximum amount recommended by the manfacturer. While HE detergents are designed for this type of washing machine, care must be used when measuring the detergent. For most normal loads, no more than 1/2 to 3/4 of a measure of HE detergent should be used. Extra care must be exercised when using 2X and 3X concentrates because even a little bit extra can cause the problems mentioned above. IMPORTANT: Do not place or store laundry products, such as detergent, bleach, or liquid fabric softener, on top of your washer or dryer. Wipe up any spills immediately. These products can damage the finish and controls. NOTE: Detergents designated as HE-COMPATIBLE may not provide optimal results. Load Sizing This washer is equipped with a feature that will tell you how big the load is so you can use the correct amount of detergent. To take advantage of this feature, use the following steps: O Using the steps on page 13, sort and load the washer. O Select the cycle, modifiers and options. O Close the door and start the cycle. O The washer will briefly tumble the load to measure its weight, then display the size in the LOAD SENSING display. O Press the Cycle Selector Knob to pause the cycle. O Add the recommended amount of HE detergent based on the size of the load. For one light, use only about 1/16 of the full measure for your detergent. For 4 lights, use about half the detergent manufacturers recommended measure. Never use more than recommended by the detergent manufacturer. O Press the Cycle Selector Knob to restart the cycle. Using this feature can help you get the best wash performance by guiding you to use the correct amount of detergent. Too little detergent can result in poor cleaning, and too much detergent can result in poor rinsing. This causes detergent buildup in the laundry, contributing to unpleasant reactions, and in the machine, which can contribute to odor problems. _ABOUTTHE DISPENSER The automatic dispenser consists of four compartments which hold: • Liquid chlorine bleach. • Liquid fabric softener. • Liquid or powdered detergent for prewash. • Liquid or powdered detergent and color-safe bleach for main wash. All laundry products can be added at once in their respective dispenser compartments. They will be dispensed at the appropriate time for the most effective cleaning.
