Using MFP menus Menu item Robust XON Baud Data Bits Parity Honor DSR Purpose Values and descriptions Determines whether the MFP Off* communicates availability to the computer. This menu item only applies to the On serial port if Serial Protocol is set to XON/XOFF. The MFP waits to receive data from the computer. The MFP sends a continuous stream of XONs to the host computer to indicate that the serial port is ready to receive more data. Specifies the rate at which data can be received through the serial port. Note: 138200, 172800, 230400, and 345600 baud rates appear in the Standard Serial menu. These values do not appear in the Serial Option 1, Serial Option 2, or Serial Option 3 menus. 1200 2400 4800 9600* 19200 38400 57600 115200 138200 172800 230400 345600 Specifies the number of data bits 7 that are sent in each transmission frame. 8* Sets the parity for serial input and output data frames. Even Odd None* Ignore Determines whether the MFP uses Off* the Data Set Ready (DSR) signal. DSR is one of the handshaking signals for most serial interface On cables. The serial interface uses DSR to distinguish data sent by the computer from data created by electrical noise in the serial cable. This electrical noise can cause stray characters to print. Select On to prevent stray characters from printing. All data received by the serial port is treated as valid data. Only data received while the DSR signal is high is treated as valid.
