You can use this setting to establish wireless connectivity before implementing wireless security. NETGEAR strongly recommends that you implement wireless security. • WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy). This option is only available for "Up to 54 Mbps" wireless mode. For other wireless modes, this option is disabled. Use encryption keys and data encryption for data security. Select 64-bit or 128-bit encryption. See "Configuring WEP Wireless Security." When you select this option, these additional areas appear on your screen: • Security Encryption (WEP). Select the Authentication Type (Automatic or Shared Key) and the Encryption Strength (64 bit or 128 bit). • Security Encryption (WEP) Key. Enter the Passphrase, select a key, and click Generate. • WPA-PSK [TKIP] (WiFi Protected Access Pre-Shared Key). This option is only available for "Up to 54 Mbps" wireless mode. For other wireless modes, this option is disabled. Allow only computers configured with WPA to connect to the wireless router. When you select this option, this additional area appears on your screen: • Security Options (WPA-PSK). Enter the WPA passphrase (Network key). The passphrase must be between 8 and 63 ASCII characters or exactly 64 hex digits. • WPA2-PSK [AES] (Wi-Fi Protected Access with 2 Pre-Shared Keys). Allow only computers configured with WPA2 to connect to the wireless router. When you select this option, this additional area appears on your screen: • Security Options (WPA2-PSK). Enter the WPA passphrase (Network key). The passphrase must be between 8 and 63 ASCII characters or exactly 64 hex digits. • WPA-PSK [TKIP] + WPA2-PSK [AES]. Allow computers configured with either WPA-PSK or WPA2-PSK security to connect to the wireless router. When you select this option, this additional area appears on your screen: • Security Options (WPA-PSK + WPA2-PSK). Enter the WPA passphrase (Network key).
