The shooting menu (common across shooting modes) Image quality Set the image quality (compression ratio) used when saving images. Lower compression ratios result in higher quality images, but the number of images that can be saved is reduced. Shooting mode* button Image quality button * The image quality can be set in any shooting mode other than Movie manual. The setting is also applied to other shooting modes (except shooting mode and [Easy panorama] scene mode). Option Description Fine Finer image quality than [Normal]. Compression ratio of about 1:4 Normal Normal image quality, suitable for most applications. (default setting) Compression ratio of about 1:8 RAW Raw data from the image sensor are saved without additional processing. You can use a computer to change settings that were set during shooting such as white balance and contrast. • File format: RAW (NRW), Nikon's own format RAW + Fine Two images are recorded at the same time, one RAW image and one fine-quality JPEG image. RAW + Normal Two images are recorded at the same time, one RAW image and one normal-quality JPEG image.
