Troubleshooting Problem Cause/Solution A Images appear smeared. Lens is dirty. Clean lens. F6 Colors are unnatural. White balance does not match light source. 37, 43, E24 Randomly spaced bright pixels ("noise") appear in image. Shutter speed is too slow or ISO sensitivity is high as the subject is dark. Noise can be reduced by: • Using flash. • Specifying a lower ISO sensitivity setting. 53 37, E28 Randomly spaced bright pixels ("noise") appear in movies. Images are too dark (underexposed). When recording movies in dim lighting, the image may become somewhat "grainy" in appearance. This occurs when the ISO sensitivity - increases, and it does not indicate a malfunction. • The flash mode is set to W (Off). 54 • Flash window is blocked. 26 • Subject is beyond flash range. 53 • Adjust exposure compensation. • Increase ISO sensitivity. • Subject is backlit. Select Backlighting scene mode or set the flash mode setting to X (Fill 57 37, E28 44, 54 flash). Images are too bright (overexposed).
