Preparation 3 Insert a Memory Card 1 Be sure that the power-on lamp and the monitor are off and open the batterychamber/memory card slot cover. • Be sure to turn off the camera before opening the cover. 2 Insert the memory card. • Slide the memory card in correctly until it clicks into place. B Inserting the Memory Card Inserting the memory card upside down or backwards could damage the camera or the memory card. Be sure to check that the memory card is in the correct orientation. Basic Steps for Shooting and Playback B Formatting a Memory Card • The first time you insert a memory card that has been used in another device into this camera, be sure to format it with this camera. • All data stored on a memory card is permanently deleted when the card is formatted. Be sure to transfer important images to a computer and save them before formatting. • To format a memory card, insert the memory card into the camera, press the d button and select Format card (A88) from the setup menu (A86).
