General Camera Setup The Setup Menu Option Description A g Vibration reduction Allows you to reduce blurring caused by camera shake when shooting. The default setting is On. • When using a tripod to stabilize the camera during shooting, set this feature to Off. E71 U Motion detection h AF assist u Digital zoom Enable or disable motion detection, which reduces the effects of subject movement and camera shake in still images. The default setting is Auto. E72 When set to Auto, the AF-assist illuminator (A2) lights up when shooting in dark surroundings to help the camera focus. The default setting is Auto. • The illuminator has a range of about 1.9 m (6 ft 2 in.) at the maximum wide-angle position and about 1.1 m (3 ft 7 in.) at the maximum telephoto position. • Even if Auto is selected, the AF-assist illuminator may not light depending on the position of the focus area or the scene mode that is selected. E73 When set to On, rotating the zoom control to g (i) at the maximum optical zoom position triggers digital zoom feature (A29). The default setting is On. E73 i Sound settings Allows you to turn various camera sounds on and off. The Button sound and Shutter sound settings are On by default. • When using certain shooting modes or settings, the operation sound is disabled. E74 k Auto off Allows you to set the amount of time that passes before the monitor turns off to save power. The default setting is 1 min. E75 l/m Format memory/Format card Allows you to format the internal memory (only when a memory card is not inserted) or the memory card (when a memory card is inserted). • All data stored in the internal memory or on the E76 memory card is deleted during formatting and cannot be restored. Be sure to transfer important images to a computer and save them before formatting. 89
