Troubleshooting Problem Cause/Solution A Digital zoom cannot be used. Digital zoom is set to Off in the setup menu. Digital zoom is not available in the following situations. • When Portrait or Night portrait is selected for Scene mode. • When Multi-shot 16 is selected for Continuous. • Just before recording a movie (up to 2× can be applied while recording movies other than Time-lapse movieP). 108 35, 36 86 56 Image mode not available. Image mode cannot be adjusted when Multi- 86 shot 16 is selected for Continuous. No sound when shutter is released. • Off is selected for Sound settings > Shutter sound in setup menu. • Continuous, Multi-shot 16 or BSS is selected for Continuous in shooting menu. • d (Sports scene mode) or l (Museum scene mode) is selected. • D mode is selected. • The speaker is being blocked. Do not cover it. 109 86 35, 38 56 4, 22 Pictures appear smeared. Lens is dirty. Clean lens. 119 Colors are unnatural. White balance does not match light source. 84 Randomly spaced bright pixels ("noise") appear in image. Shutter speed too slow. Noise can be reduced by: • Using flash. • Specifying a lower ISO sensitivity setting. • Using a scene mode which has noise reduction ability. 28 88 35-40 Pictures are too dark (underexposed). • Flash is off. • Flash window is blocked. • Subject is beyond flash range. • Adjust exposure compensation. • Apply high-sensitivity shooting mode, or raise the ISO sensitivity. • Subject is backlit.
