Recompose the shot, then press the shutter release button to take the picture. Use the Spot Metering mode in the following situation: When there is a big difference between subject and background brightness (e.g., backlighting). Notes: When the flash is flipped up, or the Night Scene or Long Time mode is engaged, the camera does not perform spot metering. After the shot, the Spot Metering mode is canceled. To cancel the mode without taking a shot, press the SPOT/LT. button again. 42
