Using the Listening Modes Selecting Listening Modes See "About Listening Modes" for detailed information about the listening modes (➔ 33). Listening Mode Buttons Press RECEIVER first. (North American and Taiwan models) MUSIC MOVIE/TV GAME THX MOVIE/TV, MUSIC, GAME (European, Australian and Asian models) MOVIE/TV button This button selects the listening modes intended for use with movies and TV. MUSIC button This button selects the listening modes intended for use with music. GAME button This button selects the listening modes intended for use with video games. THX button This button selects the THX listening modes. PURE AUDIO MOVIE/TV, MUSIC, GAME PURE AUDIO button and indicator (European, Australian and Asian models) This button selects the Pure Audio listening mode. When this mode is selected, the AV receiver's display and video circuitry are turned off. The indicator lights when this mode is selected. Pressing this button again will select the previous listening mode. • The Dolby Digital and DTS listening modes can only be selected if your Blu-ray Disc/DVD player is connected to the AV receiver with a digital audio connection (coaxial, optical, or HDMI). • The listening modes you can select depends on the format of the input signal. To check the format, see "Displaying Source Information" (➔ 23). • While a pair of headphones is connected, you can select the following listening modes: Pure Audio (European, Australian and Asian models), Mono, Direct, and Stereo. • The listening modes cannot be used while you are listening to sound through your TV speakers coming from components connected to the AV receiver ("TV Sp On" appears on the front panel). Listening Mode Buttons
MOVIE/TV button
This button selects the listening modes intended for use
with movies and TV.
MUSIC button
This button selects the listening modes intended for use
with music.
GAME button
This button selects the listening modes intended for use
with video games.
THX button
This button selects the THX listening modes.
PURE AUDIO button and indicator

This button selects the Pure Audio listening mode.
