Appendix Problem Battery fails to charge. Display looks faded. Calls cannot be made. Calls cannot be received. Emergency calls cannot be made. Cause The battery temperature exceeds the charging temperature range (too hot or too cold). The Brightness level is low. Keyguard is on. Outgoing calls are barred. Fixed dialling is switched on so that only the numbers stored in Contacts can be dialled. The phone is not registered with a network. The phone is not switched on. Incoming calls are barred. The phone is not registered with a network. You are not in a GSM coverage area. Remedy Use the battery at room temperature. Check the Brightness setting (see page 101). Disable keyguard. Disable outgoing call barring or barred dialling. Switch off the Fixed dialling. Move to a coverage area and operate your phone after it has registered with a network. Switch the phone on. Disable incoming call barring. Move to a coverage area and operate your phone after it has registered with a network. Check that the antenna symbol (p) is displayed - move to a coverage area and operate your phone when the antenna symbol is displayed. 150
