7 GAS REQUIREMENTS To verify the fuel type (either propane or natural gas) the fire feature is designed to use, refer to the label on the bottom of the control box. Natural Gas (NG) Requirements Ensure that the service supplying the fire feature is fitted with a positioned shut off valve that is easily accessible. Always check the rating plate to make sure the gas supply you are connecting to is the gas intended for your fire feature. The installation of this appliance to a fixed piping system must conform with local codes or, in the absence of local codes, to the National Fuel Gas Code, ANSI 2223.1, NFPA 54; National Fuel Gas Code; Natural Gas and Propane Installation Code, CSA 8149.1 as applicable. Natural gas connection must be performed by a licensed contractor or local gas company representative. Supply Pressure Minimum: 6.3" W.C. Normal: 7.0" W.C. Maximum: 7.7" W.C. (1/2 psi) Pressure Testings If the fire feature is installed with a fixed fuel piping system and equipped with an appliance gas pressure regulator, the fire feature and its individual shut-off valve must be disconnected from the gas supply piping system during any pressure testing of the system at test pressure in excess of 1/2 psi (3.5 kPa). The fire feature must be isolated from the gas supply piping system by closing its individual manual shut off valve during any pressure testing of the gas supply piping system at test pressures equal to or less than 1/2 psi (3.5 kPa). Refer to the table below and Natural Gas (NG) Pipe Sizing, page 8 for natural gas line requirements. Propane Gas (LP) Requirements RISK OF EXPLOSION IF UNIT IS INSTALLED NEAR PROPANE GAS STORAGE! Locate the fire bowl away from propane gas storage and filling equipment as specified by the Standard for the Storage and Handling of Liquefied Petroleum Gases, CAN/CSA B149.2 (latest edition) or ANSI/NFPA 58 (latest edition). A propane tank is not included with the fire feature and will need to be provided. Always check the rating plate to make sure the gas supply you are connecting to is the gas intended for your fire feature. The installation of this appliance to a fixed piping system must conform with local codes or, in the absence of local codes, to the National Fuel Gas Code, ANSI 2223.1, NFPA 54; National Fuel Gas Code; Natural Gas and Propane Installation Code, CSA 8149.1, or Propane Storage and Handling Code, CSA 8146.2 as applicable. Manifold Pressure For plumbed-in Propane Gas installation, use a properly sized regulator according to supply pressure. Supply Pressure Minimum: 9.9" W.C. Normal: 11.0" W.C. Maximum: 12.1" W.C. (½ psi) Refer to the table below and Liquid Propane (LP) Gas Pipe Sizing, page 8 for propane gas line requirements. 1 BOWL 1/2ʺ NG LP 10' 80' [3.1 m] [24.4 m] 3/4ʺ NG LP 50' 300' [15.2 m] [91.4 m] SIZE OF PIPE (IN.) 1ʺ 1-1/4ʺ NG LP NG LP 175' 450' 400' [53.3 m] [137.2 m] [121.9 m] - 1-1/2ʺ NG LP - - 2ʺ NG LP - - 2 BOWLS - 20' 10' 80' 40' 250' 200' [6.1 m] [3.1 m] [24.4 m] [12.2 m] [76.2 m] [61 m] - 400' [121.9 m] - - - 3 BOWLS - 10' [3.1 m] - 30' 20' 125' 70' 450' 200' [9.1 m] [6.1 m] [38.1 m] [21.3 m] [137.2 m] [61 m] - 450' [137.2 m] - 4 BOWLS - - - 20' 10' 60' 50' 250' 125' 500' 400' [6.1 m] [3.1 m] [18.3 m] [15.2 m] [76.2 m] [38.1 m] [152.4 m] [121.9 m] - 5 BOWLS - - - 10' [3.1 m] - 40' 30' 150' 70' 400' 200' [12.2 m] [9.1 m] [45.7 m] [21.3 m] [121.9 m] [61 m] - 6 BOWLS - - - 10' [3.1 m] - 30' 20' 125' 50' 250' 175' [9.1 m] [6.1 m] [38.1 m] [15.2 m] [76.2 m] [53.3 m] - • NG = Natural Gas / LP = Liquid Propane • 2" - 3" WC maximum pressure drop MAGICFLAME™ Fire and Water Bowl Installation and User's Guide
