1 Taking Pictures Selecting the Focus Mode Focus mode (No icon) Autofocus mode The camera focuses on the object in the autofocus area when the shutter release button is pressed halfway. 4 Use this mode when the distance to the subject is more than 40 cm (16 in.). q Macro mode This mode is used when the distance to the subject is approx. 18 cm - 50 cm (7 in. - 20 in.). The camera focuses on the object in the autofocus area when the shutter release button is pressed halfway. This mode is used when the distance to the subject is r Super Macro mode approx. 6 cm - 20 cm (2.4 in. - 8 in.). The camera focuses on the object in the autofocus area when the shutter release button is pressed halfway. s Infinity-Landscape mode This mode is used for taking distant objects. z Manual Focus mode Adjust the focus manually with the four-way controller. u Focusing Area mode The position of the autofocus area is changed. Saving the Focus Mode 1p.84 1 Press the qsz button in Capture mode. The focus mode changes each time the button is pressed and the icon appears on the LCD monitor. The camera is ready to take pictures in the selected focus mode. • The default setting is Autofocus mode. • The zoom is fixed at the middle position and only the digital zoom can be used in Super Macro mode. • Only Autofocus, Infinity-Landscape and Manual Focus modes can be selected in Moving Picture mode (1p.44). • The flash does not fire in Super Macro mode. 69
