USING YOUR WATER HEATER SafetyPrecautions WARNING:Flammablevaporscanbe drawnbyaircurrentsfromsurroundingareasto thewaterheater.Vaporscanignitecausingdeath, personalinjury,orproductdamage. •DONOTstoreoruseflammableorcombustible materials(gasoline,paintthinner,adhesives, solvents,newspapers,rags,mops,etc.)inthe vicinityofthewaterheateroranyothergas appliance.Iftheymustbeused,opendoorsand windowsforventilation,andshutoffallgas-burning appliances,includingtheirpilotlights. • DO turn off manual gas shut-off valve if water heater hasbeensubjectedtooverheating,fire,flood, physical damage, or if the gas supply fails to shut off. • DO NOT turn on water heater unless water and gas suppliesarecompletelyopened. • DO NOT turn on water heater if cold water supply shut-offvalveisclosed. • If there is any difficulty in understanding or following theoperatingandcareinstructionsinthismanual,it is recommended that you contact a qualified service techniciantoperformthework. Use Instructions SettingtheWaterTemperature DANGER:Watertemperaturesabove125°F(52°C)willresult indeathand/orsevereburnsfromscalding. Safetyandenergyconservationarefactorstobeconsideredwhen selectingthewatertemperaturesetting.Thetemperatureofthewater inthewaterheatercanberegulatedbysettingthetemperatureonthe frontoftheremotecontrol.Besuretoreadandfollowthewarnings outlinedonthepicturedlabel. Therecommendedsettingforthewatertemperatureis100°F(38°C). Theremotecontrolhasbeenpresetandshippedattherecommended temperaturesetting. Safetyfactorsshouldbeconsideredwheneveralteringthewater temperaturesetting.Thechartbelowmaybeusedasaguidein determiningtheproperwatertemperatureforyourhome.
