Disc Playback Basic playback (cont'd) press DVD first. 1 Press POWER on the remote control or the front panel of the unit. When you are playing back a DVD, turn on the TV and be sure to select the input to which the unit is connected. 2 Press OPEN/CLOSE EJECT A to open the disc tray. The disc tray will open. For MP3 playback 1 In stop mode, press TOP MENU to call up the File List. File List DISC NAME FOLDER NAME 1 FOLDER NAME 2 FOLDER NAME 3 FOLDER NAME 4 3 FILE NAME 3 4 FILE NAME 4 1/2 • To exit the File List, press TOP MENU again. 2 Press Cursor K / L to select a desired folder (group) or track, then press ENTER. When selecting track: Playback will start. When selecting the folder: The files in folder will appear. Press Cursor K / L to select the track or file you want, then press ENTER. 48 3 Place the disc on the disc tray with its label facing up and make sure to align the disc to the disc tray guide. 4 Press PLAY B to start playback. Playback will start. If you are playing back a DVDVideo, a menu may appear. Refer to page 49 for details about a disc menu. 5 Press STOP C to stop playback. • Press PLAY B, ENTER or Cursor B to move to the lower hierarchies. • Press Cursor s or RETURN to move back to the previous hierarchy. • Press STOP C to return to the first item. Hints for MP3 files: • Folders are known as Groups, files are known as Tracks. • Folders are accompanied by icon. • MP3 files are accompanied by icon. Playback will start from the selected track and go to the next one in turn. • The unit can recognize up to 255 groups (or folders) and tracks. • The name of group and track can be displayed in up to 29 characters. Unrecognizable characters will be replaced with asterisks. • If there are no files in the folder, "No Files" will be displayed. • For MP3 file recorded in Variable Bit Rate (VBR), the unit may not display the actual elapsed time. This unit recommends the files recorded under the following circumstances: • Sampling frequency: 44.1kHz or 48kHz. • Constant bit rate: 112kbps - 320kbps. 1 2 4 5 Note • Some discs may start playback or bring up the File List automatically. 1 2 2 VCR/DVD RECORDER COMBINATION Note • The audio source of MP3 files cannot be recorded as digital sound by an MD or DAT deck. • Files whose extension is other than ".mp3(MP3)" will not appear in the File List. • Some unplayable folders or tracks may appear in the File List due to the recording status.
