9 Chapter 9 TROUBLESHOOTING AND MAINTENANCE Problems related to general use of the machine, the copy function, and software setup are explained here. Be sure to check the problem carefully before calling for service, as many problems can be solved by the user. If you are unable to solve the problem, turn off the main switch, unplug the power cord from the outlet, and contact your dealer. For problems related to the printer and scanner functions, see the online manual. DISPLAY MESSAGES When the following indicators light up or blink on the operation panel or the following alphanumeric codes appear in the display, solve the problem immediately referring to both the table below and the indicated page. Be sure to use only genuine SHARP parts and supplies. 142 Indication Lamp indicator Display Cause and remedy Page Tray location Blinks indicator BYPASS : ADD PAPER TRAY * : ADD PAPER CLOSE PAPER TRAY * The indicated paper tray is not attached, is attached incorrectly, or has 17 run out of paper. CLEAR PAPER A paper misfeed has occurred. JAM Remove the misfeed as explained in 157 SPF/RSPF JAM. "MISFEED REMOVAL". FRONT OR SIDE COVER OPEN. The cover is open. Close the cover. - CLOSE COVERS. CLOSE THE SPF/ The RSPF cover is open. Close the RSPF RSPF COVER. cover. 161 Error indicator Blinks The TD cartridge is empty. Replace the REPLACE THE TD TD cartridge with a new cartridge. CARTRIDGE. (When the indicator blinks, the 161 machine does not operate.) The machine will not function. Turn the power switch off, wait about 10 SYSTEM ERROR seconds,and then turn on the switch [XX - XX] REFER again. If this does not clear the error, - TO USER GUIDE remove the power cord from the outlet, and contact your authorized service representative. NO ID CARD COPY WITH SPECIAL FUNCTIONS When selected ID Card Copy, Sort Copy, 2 in 1 Copy and Margin Shift function cannot be used. 31 33 36

MAINTENANCE
Problems related to general use of the machine, the copy function, and software
setup are explained here. Be sure to check the problem carefully before calling for
service, as many problems can be solved by the user.
If you are unable to solve the problem, turn off the main switch, unplug the power
cord from the outlet, and contact your dealer.

(When the indicator blinks, the
machine does not operate.)
