Operations Note This section describes typical operation on the MKS-R1620. For other models, substitute the button names and other items corresponding to your model. Select the destination first, then select the source. The levels follow the settings in the web menu. Before starting operation, turn on the power to the unit and the system. Then check that the PROT button is not lit. Source selection button lamp status when a destination is selected In status display mode, the source selection state for the destination that is currently selected is always displayed. When there is a source name button displayed The source selection button of the specified source for the selected destination is lit bright green. When there is no source name button displayed All the source selection buttons are lit dim green. Switching between source selection mode and destination selection mode You can switch between source selection mode and destination selection mode by pressing the DEST button. Destination selection mode 1 Press the DEST button to make it light up bright amber. The destination selection function is assigned to the source/destination selection buttons. Source selection mode 1 Press the DEST button to make it light up bright green. The source selection function is assigned to the source/destination selection buttons. Switching Crosspoints The source names and destination names for the selection buttons on the front panel are configured using the web menu. Using these buttons, you can select a source and destination for switching a crosspoint. You can also select and switch a crosspoint using the selector knob. You can switch a crosspoint using the BPS selection method and MD selection method. Changing the selection method You can change the selection method using the web menu. See "Operation Settings Page" (page 27). BPS (Button Per Source) selection method In the BPS selection method, you press destination and source selection buttons on which the corresponding signals have been assigned to switch the crosspoint. On the MKS-R1630, the status display window is in BPS mode. DEST button Selection buttons Selector knob • Source selection buttons (green) • Destination selection buttons (amber) Switching directly (immediate switching mode) 1 Press the DEST button to make it light up amber. Destination selection mode is activated, and the selection buttons are lit dim amber. 2 Press a selection button to select the destination. Source selection mode is activated, and the selection buttons are lit dim green. Note The source selection buttons may light up in a color other than green, depending on the [Breakaway] setting in the web menu, for example, when a source is not assigned. 3 Press a selection button to select a source. The crosspoint is switched. Switching using the selector knob 1 Press the DEST button to make it light up amber. Destination selection mode is activated, and the selection buttons are lit dim amber. 2 Turn the selector knob to select a destination. The preset display window is highlighted ([Preset] in the status display window on the MKS-R1630). Turn the knob until the destination you want to select is displayed in the preset display window. 3 Press the selector knob. The destination is selected, and source selection mode is activated. 18

Operations

Before starting operation, turn on the power to the unit and
the system. Then check that the PROT button is not lit.
Source selection button lamp status when a
destination is selected
In status display mode, the source selection state for the
destination that is currently selected is always displayed.
When there is a source name button displayed
The source selection button of the specified source for the
selected destination is lit bright green.
When there is no source name button displayed
All the source selection buttons are lit dim green.
Switching between source selection
mode and destination selection mode
You can switch between source selection mode and
destination selection mode by pressing the DEST button.
Destination selection mode

Press the DEST button to make it light up bright
amber.
The destination selection function is assigned to the
source/destination selection buttons.
Source selection mode

Press the DEST button to make it light up bright
green.
The source selection function is assigned to the
source/destination selection buttons.
Switching Crosspoints
The source names and destination names for the selection
buttons on the front panel are configured using the web
menu. Using these buttons, you can select a source and
destination for switching a crosspoint. You can also select
and switch a crosspoint using the selector knob.
You can switch a crosspoint using the BPS selection method
and MD selection method.
Changing the selection method
You can change the selection method using the web menu.

BPS (Button Per Source) selection method
In the BPS selection method, you press destination and
source selection buttons on which the corresponding signals
have been assigned to switch the crosspoint.
On the MKS-R1630, the status display window is in BPS
mode.
Switching directly (immediate switching mode)

Press the DEST button to make it light up amber.
Destination selection mode is activated, and the
selection buttons are lit dim amber.

Press a selection button to select the destination.
Source selection mode is activated, and the selection
buttons are lit dim green.
The source selection buttons may light up in a color other
than green, depending on the [Breakaway] setting in the
web menu, for example, when a source is not assigned.

Press a selection button to select a source.
The crosspoint is switched.
Switching using the selector knob

Press the DEST button to make it light up amber.
Destination selection mode is activated, and the
selection buttons are lit dim amber.

Turn the selector knob to select a destination.
The preset display window is highlighted ([Preset] in the
status display window on the MKS-R1630). Turn the
knob until the destination you want to select is displayed
in the preset display window.

Press the selector knob.
The destination is selected, and source selection mode
is activated.
