Symptom The recorder does not work or works poorly. " NO SIGNAL" appears in the display when recording from a portable CD player. There is no recording on the MD after a recording operation. The lid does not open. No sound comes through the headphones/ earphones. Volume cannot be turned up. An MD is not played normally. An MD is not played from the first track. Cause/Solution • A Premastered MD is inserted (" P/B ONLY" appears) when recording. , Insert a recordable MD • There is no digital signal from the portable CD player. , When recording digitally from a portable CD player, use the AC power adaptor and disable the anti-skip function (such as ESP) on the CD player (page 18). • The AC power adaptor was unplugged or a power outage occurred during recording. • The power sources have been disconnected during recording or editing, or the battery have been exhausted. , Set the power sources again, or replace the exhausted battery with new ones. • The headphones/earphones plug is not firmly connected. , Plug in the plug of the headphones/earphones firmly to the remote control. Plug in the plug of the remote control firmly to i/LINE OUT. • Volume is too low. , Adjust the volume by pressing VOL +/- . • The plug is dirty. , Clean the plug. • Sound comes through the headphones/earphones has a lot of static. • The " AUDIO OUT" parameter for the i/LINE OUT jack is set to " LINE OUT" . , Set to " HeadPhone" . • AVLS is on. , Set AVLS to " AVLS OFF" (page 55). • Playback mode is changed. , Use the jog lever (L) on the recorder or press RPT/ENT on the remote control to change back to the normal play. • Disc playing stopped before it came to the last track. , Flip the jog lever (press the control towards . repeatedly on the remote) or open and close the lid once to go back to the beginning of the disc, and restart playing after checking the track number in the display. • The disc information has been stored to the Personal Disc Memory. , Erase the disc information from the Personal Disc Memory. 62-GB
