Different air filters may be installed to adapt the machine to the prevailing operating conditions: for normal cutting conditions and winter operation. for occasional use in dry and very dusty work areas. • Set the Master Control lever to • Turn the twist lock above the • rear handle 90° counterclockwise. Lift off the carburetor box cover • vertically. Clean away loose dirt from around filter. 4 6 5 ••• Unscrew the slotted nuts . Remove the filter. Separate the two halves of the filter. • Take the foam element out of the front half of the filter and • clean or replace it. Knock out both elements or blow out with compressed air from the inside outward. •In case of stubborn dirt: Wash the filter elements in STIHL universal cleaner or in a fresh, nonflammable cleaning solution (e.g. warm soapy water). Dry all parts. • Always replace a damaged filter • element. Reinstall the filter.
