21 Inspection and Maintenance ► Set the cutting height to the highest position, 16.1. ► Adjust the handle to the lowest position, 9.2. English ► Clean the area around the cutting blade with a wooden stick, soft brush or damp cloth. ► Connect the spark plug boot. NOTICE Place the lawn mower on a firm and level surface before standing it on end. The lawn mower can topple over while cleaning. To reduce the risk of injury while cleaning, never work directly in front of or behind the unit. Always stand to one side. ► Stand to the right of the device. ► Open and hold the rear discharge cover (1). ► Press the lever (2) down with the left hand and hold it. ► Hold the lawn mower by the transport han‐ dle (3) with your right hand and set it up back‐ wards. NOTICE Cleaning with a high-pressure cleaner or jet water can damage the device. - Do not clean the device with a high-pres‐ sure cleaner. 21 Inspection and Mainte‐ nance 21.1 Inspecting and Maintaining the Lawn Mower The lawn mower is stable and can be cleaned. 20.2 Cleaning the Lawn Mower WARNING ■ To reduce the risk of personal injury from unin‐ tended activation, remove the spark plug boot before carrying out any cleaning work, 6.1. Users of this lawn mower should carry out only the cleaning described in this manual. WARNING ■ To help prevent injuries, always wear heavyduty work gloves when handling the mowing blade. To clean the lawn mower: ► Shut off the engine. ► Allow the lawn mower to cool down. ► Remove the spark plug boot. ► Clean the lawn mower with a damp cloth. ► Clean ventilation slots with a brush. ► Stand the mower on end. WARNING ■ To reduce the risk of personal injury from unin‐ tended activation, remove the spark plug boot before inspecting the lawn mower or carrying out any maintenance, 6.1. STIHL recom‐ mends that repair work be performed by authorized STIHL servicing dealers. Proper maintenance of the lawn mower includes the following activities: ► Inspecting the mowing blade periodically and replacing it or having it replaced by an author‐ ized STIHL servicing dealer. ► Periodically sharpening the mowing blade or having it sharpened and balanced by an authorized STIHL servicing dealer. ► Having worn, missing or damaged safety labels replaced by an authorized STIHL serv‐ icing dealer. 21.2 Inspecting and Maintaining the Engine Read and follow the engine operation, care and maintenance instructions in the Kohler owner's manual. 0478-111-8602-A 23
