22 Troubleshooting Guide 21.5 Replacing the Mowing Blade ► Stand the mower on end, 20.1. English WARNING ■ A cracked, damaged or worn out mowing blade may shatter at high speeds and cause serious or fatal injury. To reduce risk of injury from broken parts, check condition of the mowing blade before mounting at regular short intervals thereafter. Do not mount a worn, bro‐ ken or damaged mowing blade. WARNING ■ The mowing blade has sharp edges. If it con‐ tacts your flesh, it may cut you, even if it is not moving. Always wear heavy-duty work gloves when mounting or otherwise handling the mowing blade, 5.4. To remove the mowing blade: ► Shut off the engine. ► Remove the spark plug boot. ► Stand the mower on end, 20.1. ► Place the new washer (3) on the new bolt (2) with the bulge facing outward. ► Coat the bolt (2) with Loctite 243. ► Fit the new mowing blade (1) as depicted above. The retainers must fit into the holes in the mowing blade. ► Tighten the bolt (2) together with the washer (3). ► Use a piece of wood to block the mowing blade (1). ► Tighten the bolt (2) with 44-48 lb-ft (60-65 Nm). ► Connect the spark plug boot. 21.6 Check Protective Strips ► Shut off the engine. ► Remove the spark plug boot. ► Stand the mower on end, 20.1. ► Use a piece of wood to block the mowing blade (1). ► Loosen the bolt (2) in the direction of the arrow and remove it together with the washer (3). ► Remove the mowing blade (1). ► Discard the bolt (2) and the washer (3). Use a new bolt and a new washer to mount the mowing blade (1). ► Connect the spark plug boot. To mount the mowing blade: ► Shut off the engine. ► Remove the spark plug boot. 22 Troubleshooting Guide 22.1 Troubleshoot the lawn mower ► Measure the thickness of the protective strips: - Minimum thickness a: 0.04 in. Replacing the Mowing Blade
WARNING
A cracked, damaged or worn out mowing
blade may shatter at high speeds and cause
serious or fatal injury. To reduce risk of injury
from broken parts, check condition of the
mowing blade before mounting at regular short
intervals thereafter. Do not mount a worn, bro‐
ken or damaged mowing blade.
WARNING
The mowing blade has sharp edges. If it con‐
tacts your flesh, it may cut you, even if it is not
moving. Always wear heavy-duty work gloves
when mounting or otherwise handling the
mowing blade,
5.4.
To remove the mowing blade:
Shut off the engine.
Remove the spark plug boot.
Stand the mower on end,
20.1.
Use a piece of wood to block the mowing
blade (1).
Loosen the bolt (2) in the direction of the arrow
and remove it together with the washer (3).
Remove the mowing blade (1).
Discard the bolt (2) and the washer (3).
Use a new bolt and a new washer to mount
the mowing blade (1).
Connect the spark plug boot.
To mount the mowing blade:
Shut off the engine.
Remove the spark plug boot.
Stand the mower on end,
20.1.
Place the new washer (3) on the new bolt (2)
with the bulge facing outward.
Coat the bolt (2) with Loctite 243.
Fit the new mowing blade (1) as depicted
above. The retainers must fit into the holes in
the mowing blade.
Tighten the bolt (2) together with the
washer (3).
Use a piece of wood to block the mowing
blade (1).
Tighten the bolt (2) with 44-48 lb-ft
(60-65 Nm).
Connect the spark plug boot.

Check Protective Strips
Shut off the engine.
Remove the spark plug boot.
Stand the mower on end,
20.1.
Measure the thickness of the protective strips:
Minimum thickness a: 0.04 in. (1 mm)
If the minimum thickness is not reached:
Replace the protective strips.

Refuel the lawn mower.
