Learning the Basics Using diskettes 89 Using diskettes For those systems with an optional external USB diskette drive, the 3.5-inch diskette drive, lets you use either doubledensity (720 KB) or high-density (1.44 MB) diskettes for data transfer and storage. See "System indicator panel" on page 40 for more information on the location of system indicators. Inserting and removing diskettes 1 Hold the diskette so that the arrow on its upper surface points toward the drive. 2 Push the diskette gently into the drive slot. When the diskette is in place, the eject button pops out. To release a diskette from the drive, push the eject button. CAUTION: Never press the eject button or turn off the computer while the light is glowing. Doing so could destroy data and damage the diskette or the drive. Caring for diskettes ❖ Store your diskettes properly to protect them and keep them clean. ❖ If a diskette is dirty, clean it with a soft cloth moistened in water. Do not use cleaning fluids. ❖ Never slide back the protective metal cover.

Using diskettes
For those systems with an optional external USB diskette
drive, the 3.5-inch diskette drive, lets you use either double-
density (720 KB) or high-density (1.44 MB) diskettes for
data transfer and storage.
Sample diskette drive
The disc/disk activity indicator flashes when the diskette
drive is in use. See
