This item is only effective for Dolby Digital DVD. 5 Still Picture Display [DVD] To show I, P or B** during still picture mode. 1 Automatic 2 Field If jittering occurs when '1 Automatic' is selected, switch to this position. 3 Frame If detail such as small patterns or letters of still picture is not clear when '1 Automatic' is selected, switch to this position. 1 On 2 Off 1 Pan & Scan The video appears in pan and scan style, with either one or both ends cut off. 2 Letterbox The video appears in letterbox style, with black bands on top and bottom of the monitor. 1 Off Played back with disc's original dynamic range. 2 On The range is compressed to make it easier to hear dialog, etc. even at low volume level. Select this position in occasions such as viewing late at night. 1 Off 2 On Still (P) Example: 'P' Picture * DTS audio is not heard during search regardless of the setting. ** I/P/B: When 'I' appears, it indicates that the frame is the original one and has greater amount of information than that of 'P' or 'B'. 'P' is made from 'I', and 'B' is to fill in the space between 'I' and 'P'. It is recommended to use 'I' picture for adjusting video image. AV output Europe and U.K. models To select the video signal type (composite or S-video) to be output from the SCART terminal. NTSC Disc Output Europe, U.K., General and Australia models To select video signal format (PAL 60 or NTSC) to be output when playing NTSC disc. 1 Lighter Select when you made video connection through the composite or S-video terminals. 2 Darker Select when you made video connection through the component terminals. 1 Video Composite signal is output. 2 S Video S-video signal is output. 1 PAL 60 Select when the connected video monitor can accept PAL 525/60 system. 2 NTSC Select when a Multi-system video monitor is connected. 30
